My boat currently has two depth finders. A Lowrance HDS-7 on the dash, and a cheaper lowrance up front. This winter I bought a new Lowrance HDS9 Touchscreen with structure scan. I am going to network the two units together, but I keep going back and forth on where to put the new unit. Do I mount it up front where I spend most of my time when I am fishing and move the HDS-7 up front? Or, do I mount it on the dash and move the smaller HDS-7 to the front? I've never used structure scan before, so I'm not sure where it would be more useful.

Those of you that run multiple depth finders, do you have the nicer unit on the dash or up front where you fish?

Put it where you spend your time and enjoy it instead of letting your partner look at it all day. You will not like the 7 for viewing structure scan when your standing on the deck.
