| i will add a small about of lead at the balance point and also in the tail area. if you would like the bait to sit lower in the water, add more weight , this will give the bait a better swoosh and hang in place better when you are working it, hope this hellps, hardwoods are the way to go with WTD IMO |

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | Depends on the wood. If you use the right hard maple they don't need any weight at all to sit low and make just the right sound. |

+1. I've played around with both. The unweighted models seem to run the best. The ones that I added weight to want to run sub-surface if you work them too fast. I say do not add any weight or rubber tails. It is much easier to get a consistent side to side without a tail. The right blank, hooks, and few coats of e-tex is enough to make them sit planty low in the water. |

Mostly i build with Mahoghany , but i use Oak too.(also iwork with Cedar of course)
Just add a little bit of lead.(lead in the tail area) , not too much , and don`t work em too fast( they run subsurface if worked too fast). |
