Posts: 278 Location: Finland | hey guys i though id share these to you. i have been playing with silicone little and did couple of different models before these but figured i would show these here. they are 7.8 incers and have internal weights inside of them. they are still "blind " i just need to figure out what kind of eyes i will put on to these if i will do that at all, after all im sure the fish don't care about it that much. -mikko Attachments ---------------- curly tail ekat valut.jpg (97KB - 211 downloads) curlyt 2.jpg (96KB - 223 downloads)

I'm interested in how you molded the tail, did you make itas a solid disc and cut after pouring ? Would love to see a pic of the mold. Great work MS i made my 2 piece mold from from mold max 30 witch as far as i know is basically same or similar stuff as rtv silicone. i don't have a pour hole in the mold it self or even a vent hole, i do the pouring basically in 2 stages. i pour the silicone from tail so that i have the whole mold in a vertical position the nose pointing downward, i have the 2 parts of the mold secured tightly with rubber bands to basically where the tail section starts, i then flex open the tail section so that i have a pour hole big enough that i can pour the silicone inside the body cavity. then i add rubber bands to the tail section so that i can barely open a pour hole and then just pour the tail section when i let go of the mold the rubber bands tighten and force any excess silicone to gush out from the sides and top of the mold. usually there is only a very fine film of silicone flash on the tail thats easy to just peel off.

| Those look great! How much weight do the larger ones have? Would you be willing to sell a half dozen or so? If so please PM me. Thanks | |||

Thanks they are all same length so there are no "larger ones" but I'm actually still figuring out the best weight so until i figure that out i'm probably not gonna sell them until then. after that i probably will, i have had lots of interest on them so far Edited by SolarFall 2/26/2013 1:15 PM

Posts: 501 Location: Norway | If I understand Mikko correct about the pouring, I think you can find a similar technique on makelure.com, in the video section. And as usual, reat work mikko perkele! Michael

Michael yes exactly michael thats how i did it too pretty much, but instead of 1 piece mold they used in this vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZHOcJuKbd0E#!) i just had a 2piece mold, exactly same principle. oh and i took the curly tails for a swim today and i liked what i saw Edited by SolarFall 2/27/2013 6:38 AM
