My wife called me at work this evening and told me that it was 70 degrees outside and that I needed to take off early and take her to the river for a short fishing trip.  I hightailed it out of there and off we went to the river.  While I was rigging up her fishing pole, she started throwing my crank bait right at where she had just seen a musky swirl.  Fourth cast and bam!!  She started screaming, I've got one, I've got one!!

It was great to finally see her very excited about something important like musky fishing!

After a good fight, all around the boat and under the boat, she caught and released a 39 inch feisty river musky.  She said that it was high time that I netted one for her for once.  I was glad to do it.

That's AWESOME! I remember my wife's first musky like it was yesterday. It's so much fun having a partner to share the boat with.

Congrats! I'm yet to raise a fish this year on the river. Are the fish spawning in your river yet?

Nope, I don't think they are yet. The only way I really know if they are spawning is if I catch a female and I see eggs leaking out of her urogenital area, and I haven't seen that yet. Water temps here are still around 47 degrees and our muskies usually spawn around April.

I'm a musky fishin' wife, so I relate to your excitement. It's awesome to see a couple like you two get outside together to enjoy the water, an amazing fish, and each other. Hope this is the fist of many many great catches!
