| I am going to get a rod for big rubber. My issue is 8 foot fits better for transport, but I can force an 8'6" if need be. Does the extra length really help? This rod will be specific for this purpose. Thanks, Big P |

| I am having a custom rod made, so I have the actual rod picked out, was more concerned with how much am I missing out with going with an 8 foot vs the longer rod. Big P |

Location: Hayward, WI | I would say yesm the extra length helps. I have one 8 foot rod and it feels short now. Everything else I own is 8'6" or 9 foot. Figure 8's much better with even an 8'6 vs 8.
With that said how about a telescopic 9 footer? I use Tackle Industries 9' rods for almost everything and like them a lot. I use the XXH for my Pounder rod. |

| I had a 10'3" custom rod made just for Pounders and 2 Pounders, and this thing is incredible. It is like using a catapult to launch those baits. Also, as mentioned before, I can effectively perform a figure up to 4 ft. down with minimal effort (plus my turns are super wide). From my experience, get the rod as long as you can handle. |

Location: Appleton | I'm a big fan of the Custom X 8'6" XH for throwing big rubber. Used it all last year and held up great. I'm not saying there aren't other good rods just saying to check these out before buying. |

Location: South-Central PA | I'd go 8'6" at the very least. I think you'll find a 9' or longer to be even better. If transport is an issue, get a TI two-piece.
