| Bayfield area fishing guide Jim Hudson died yesterday when his snowmobile went through the ice on Lake Superior. Condolences to his family and friends. A friend of mine fished with him several years ago, and has talked about it numerous times since then in glowing terms. A sad day for the fishing world. |

Location: Park Falls, WI | This is a terrible accident that occured. I did not know him personally but thought of him being a friend. He was the guy for chequamegon bay info on lake links and will be missed dearly. His posts were always friendly and full of knowlege. He always had a smile on his face while filming tv shows. My thoughts and prayers go out to his friends and family. Rest in peace Mr. Hudson. |

In the Ice Fishing Threads here, Steve W. mentioned the Nebulus that may have saved Jim's life.
I read a follow-up article in the Duluth newspaper about this terrible accident, and it turns out that Jim had these....he just didn't happen to have the Nebulus with him Saturday. Ironic...and bad luck.

| Did anybody watch Gillespies show last week with Jim?I did with my dad and he said wow that ice looks like only 4 or 5 inches thick and they hade 4 wheelers out. I was a little worried when i saw how thick the ice was. Anybody notice that or agree? God Bless Jim. Thanks all!  |

I had the pleasure of fishing with Jim here in Madison as his wife, Hannah folks lived here. He was a great guy. I also visited Jim in Bayfield and had dine with him and Hannah. My heart and prayers go out to Hannah. family, and friends. |

| I had the pleasure of knowing Jim very well. I fished/guided with him almost every day during the winter. He was not only my fishing partner but one of my best friends. He was the greatest guy you could ever meet. He cared more about others then he did himself. Jim took me under his wing a while ago and taught me everything he knew about fishing. I wouldn't be the angler I am today without him. I'm truly going to miss him.

| Just read the tribute by Outdoor's Editor Paul Smith in this morning's Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Got a peek into the background and what type of fellow his was, sounds like a #1 quality angler and person. My prayers are offered for his family. |

| I occasionally fish the bay and decided to get a survival suit after this incident. This really opened my eyes to the dangers of going out there.
I know the suits will keep you floating but what about exposure or hypothermia? Do they keep you warmer or dry in case you have to wait for help? |

Location: oswego, il | Horsehuntet,i believe gillespie gets the show to the affiliated a day or two before saturday which is the day the tragedy occured. I guess several ways to look at it not sure in this instance there is a right or wrong. |
