First, I will admit that I am handicapped when it comes to knowledge about setting up a boat with new equipment. I purchased my first boat 3 years ago and it was already set up with graphs and accessories. I spend about 90% of my fishing time chasing walleyes and hunting muskies. I have triton tr-21 bass boat that currently has a lowrance hds 5 (gen 1) on the bow and a humminbird 797c2 side/down imaging on the console. I also currently have a 74lb minnkota trolling motor. The boat has an onboard triton 3 bank charger.

I have decided that I am going to upgrade my trolling motor to a 101lb 36vlt i pilot. Thats where my other questions come up...Whats the best way to upgrade my graphs?? I can get a great deal (40-50% off) any new lowrance graph (I want the hds 9 touch) so that is obviously a consideration in the decision making process. If I could have it my way, I would move the 797 to the bow and hook it up to the i pilot (not sure if the ipilot link will work with the older 797c2 model??) and put the hds 9 touch on the console. (it has structure scan already on it) I wouldn't need the side imaging on the trolling motor as it would mess up the screen every time the TM turned anyways. If that would work then I would sell my hds 5 and keep the 797. If that plan doesn't work then I would sell the 797 and buy a larger HB unit so I can use the ipilot link feature of the new terrovas. Im also wondering if I could get away with simply hooking up the 3 batteries for the TM to my current onboard charger and do something else to charge the cranking battery?? I have asked a couple different people but they all sell this stuff for a living and I would like to talk to someone who doesn't get paid based on what I decide. If someone on here is willing to take the time to go over my options with me I would GREATLY appreciate it. Shoot me a PM and I will send ya my phone number so we can talk about the best way to get my boat set up.

Thanks,

Adubs

You don't want side imaging on your trolling moter! If your going to get the I pilot setup interlink 2 hummingbirds, side imaging on console to another GPS unit on bow. When side imaging you want to be moving between 2.5 and 4 mph. I also only charge my cranking battery in the winter. A two bank 24 volt system is all you will ever need.
