Is this normal? Can I still cast far? The reel is about the size of a 5600. Does anyone own one of these and know if this is sopposed to happen? Or is it this way on any other reel?

Many of the reels on the market today do not have the level wind moving while casting. This si actually a nice feature, and is part of the new design on the reels i use.

Steve, does it affect the casting distance at all? I've never used a reel with a non moving levelwind. I really doubt its a problem with the reel. It really looks like its not sopposed to move. The levelwind guide looks like its the same material as the tip on the newer st croix premiers.

Schuler, the idea is less moving parts during the cast, making it cast farther. Personally, I don't care for it. It creates severe line angles to the level wind during the cast and the levelwind is then not in sync with the spool, which in turn causes uneven spooling. It has created headaches for me on some reels.
