Posts: 1460 Location: Kronenwetter, WI | Im thinking of pulling a graph with GPS off my boat and carrying it onto the ice with the ext antenna and powering with the 12 v from my vexilar. Any reason I shouldn't do this? Don't see many people doing this and was just wondering

Posts: 32955 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | There are a bunch of Lowrance units up here at the Berkley Ice Summit this week. Use the Ice machine and your unit, and you are good to go.

Location: Eastern Ontario | I used a Lowrance from my boat last winter a couple of times. I built a plywood box to hold the battery from my lawnmower and mounted the unit on top with a Ram mount (mine has the built in GPS Antena) I Mgivered a spare transducer I had with pipe insulation and zip ties to float level in the hole.

Posts: 37 | I've been looking for the PPP-16I bag, power cord & transducer. If anybody is looking to part with one, let me know. Trying to setup a 332 that I don't use anymore. I know I can buy the cord and transducer separately, but was looking for the all-in-one setup.

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | i've used an internal gps sonar/gps combo ram-mounted on my ATV with an added cigarette lighter power for navigation on the ice and then the Vexilar once settled in. then i got old and built a shack and just go sit in it most of the time. lots of "ice-boats" and electronics rigging options out there ...

Posts: 2686 Location: Hayward, WI | I bought a Lowrance ice pack and rigged up my 520C for ice use this year. It works pretty well. I still somewhat prefer a standard flasher read out, but had no problem catching crappies suspended 30 feet down over 50 feet of water with it. I actually haven't used the GPS feature on the ice yet (I need to get another fuse holder) but see no reason why it shouldn't work well. One word on the Lowrance Ice Pack - you'll still need to get a power cord and with the kit also need an adapter cord to go from the uni plug to blue plug units. The power cords are about $40 and the adapter cable is 35-40. I pulled a power cord from my boat and found an adapter cable on ebay for $15. If I had known all that I probably would have made a carrying case and just bought the other ice ducer that comes with blue plugs. Tucker

Tucker Actually, there's a kit 000-10346-001 ADAPTOR HDS-5 PPP17/18I for $50 that includes the adapter, gimbal mount, gimbal knobs, and power cord.

Posts: 2686 Location: Hayward, WI | That's correct also. When I was searching the best I could find was about $60 for that kit. I must have purchased everything too early because I did find a couple places selling the kit for about $50 now. Regardless, if you have a unit with the blue plugs, you are not done when you order the ice kit. Tucker
