| I need some input on what fishfiner/gps combo unit to get. I make a few fishing trips a year and am putting together a portable unit that I can use on rental boats. I am new to the technology and since I won’t be using it often, I don’t need a top of the line model, just something that works well and is easier to use.
The models I am considering are:
Lowrance HDS-5x Fishfinder/Chartplotter w/enhanced basemap
Lowrance Elite-5 DSI Color DownScan Imaging Fishfinder + GPS Chartplotter
Humminbird 597ci HD Combo Internal GPS Chartplotter and Fishfinder
Humminbird 587ci HD Combo Internal GPS Chartplotter and Fishfinder
Thanks for the input!

| The elite 5 is on sale at cabelas for 399. I picked one up but I haven't been able to use it. I'm actually in the process of wiring it in right now. |

Location: Palatine, IL | I have a 597ci HD DI with the Lakemaster chip for Wisconsin. Works great and is easy to use. I would recommend it. |

| I finished the install today. I won't have a chance to use it on the water, I will say that it really sucks that minn kota's us2 doesn't work with down imaging, It would have been a much cleaner install. |

| I just picked up a used HDS 5 a minute ago for $425, including shipping. The guy bought a new Ranger 6 months ago with the HDS 5 and a HDS 7 already on it. He swapped out the 5 for a HDS 8 that was on his old boat. Hope it works as well as he says it does...
Thanks for all the input. |
