It seems like most guys use the 60 series Revo Toro instead of the 50. Besides being capable of holding roughly 50 more yards of line, are there any other benefits to using the 60? I do not troll with my casting reels so the clicker alarm is not a benefit to me on the 60 either. And 200 yds is plenty to cast with on the 50 series right? I bought a 50 series last year because I personally did not see a reason to buy the significantly larger 60 series. Just wondered if many of you know something I'm just not seeing...???

I use the 60 for 80 lb line and the 50 for 50/65 lb line. The retrieve rate is lower on the 50 at the end of the cast due to spool diameter. Casting distance will take a hit as well since the spool turns more revolutions if using the 50.

Exactly what RynJoz said, Casting ability and line retrieve will suffer to some degree. But not really to a degree that will be overly dictate how many fish you catch or how big they are.

Personally I am 6'5" and though I don't have the biggest hands, I do have LONG hands. The 60 (or 61 in my case) felt more comfortable in my hands when palming it. The 50 just felt like I was engulfing it a little bit. So those are the main reasons I chose the 60 over the 50. I also have either 80 or 100lb on my reels also. Rarely do I run anything under 80lb. So the line capacity, though not necessary, of the 60 was preferred by me.

I have the 50. I bought the 50 over the 60 for the same reasons you are describing. Both sizes have a clicker.

I have the 50. I can be wrong but don't the 50 and 60 have the same diameter spool? Just by looking I figured the 60 was slightly wider which accommodates more line but casting performance would be the same. Either way, if I were buying new I think I would go with a 60 for the extra line. I can cast all the braid off of my 50 right down to the backing.

Casting performance is not the same. Yes they have the same diameter spool, but the diameter of the remaining line is much greater when using the 60 size reel at the end of the cast. This means the bearings turn fewer times per cast because the spool diameter is greater as well. Retrieve rate is greater at the end of the cast with the wider spool model.

Go with the 60.

I agree go with the 60 but any casting difference is probably negligible. I'm not going to bother wasting time figuring the difference in spool width but even if it's an entire wrap difference in diameter at the end of a cast, what does that add up to? Not much. Get the 60 for the sole reason of not casting the braid off the reel, not because you think youre going to get another 30 feet on a cast.

I have a 60 hs and a 60 winch and a 50 hs you really wont notice a casting difference. I use 80 pound line on all 3 and have never seen the backing on any of them. For me I plan on getting another of the 50s for me its more comfortable and personally havent seen any advantage to the 60s. Just my own opinion. You should really go to a shop and have them put one on a rod and see wich is more comfortable for you and thats what Id buy.
