  | Few years ago somebody here was doing a bookdrive for the troops. Is that being done again or was it a one time shot? |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | That was Ranger. He does good things, too. Great guy, and carves a hell of a walking stick. |

  | Hi there, I have a little charity in Florida called Books for Troops. I work with the local VA hospitals to provide materials for their lending library and I ship for free to deployed troops. You may want to contact the volunteer coordinator at your local VA hospital to make a book donation. Happy Holidays, Patricia |

  | Yep, Ranger. Ric is my favorite lefty. As soon as his head clears, I'm sure he'll be soliciting for books and magazines for the troops again. He does a good thing here.

  | Thanks I'll keep an eye out for him. I have a whole tote of books and a small bill or two to help with shipping! |

  | Well geeze, guys, too nice. Don't know if my head will ever really clear, tho, Shep.

Book drives became out of hand and I stopped after the last, just over 600# including the frisbees and softballs. Done mostly with the help on this site, especially the shipping donations because it costs over $400 to mail over 600#.

Anyway I quit. But I still feel the urge to do something so as a birthday present to myself I recently sent my Fender acoustic guitar to a just-home vet involved with The Wounded Warrior Project. A michigan guitar is being strummed somewhere in texas. Somebody got a great guitar from some stranger right out of the blue. Is that not cool as #*#*?

Book drives work, tho, and I would be glad to contribute, but not run another. |

  | Thank you for the job you did, I know it's a big time and money commitment. Cool idea with the guitar, I'm sure some worthy vet is strumming away today with a grin on his face.

I have a tote full of books if this gets going again.

Merry Christmas guys, thoughts and prayers for those affected in Connecticut today. |
