| Hello everyone im kinda new to this/awesome fish but I have cought 2 and seen plenty in my small river. I was wandering if of you guys have any expiercence with small rivers its not deeper than 15 ft and it has plenty of big rocks and laydowns and such. |

| The river does have current but usually moves slow and I'm from Kentucky sorry should have stated both of those. |

| Only advice is to buy quality right away figure out who makes the best lure in the style of bait you want. Needless to say I buy mostly from the guys on this site who make there own baits for only a dollar or two more then i would spend on something that is mass produced. For the the small rivers I fish I use lots of topwater , spinnerbaits, some cranks, and bucktails

| I use a Jon boat for the small rivers I fish , I use a drag chain to slow down my drift "we have current" I stand up on the seat to see better,I use a stern mounted trolling motor and basically go down the river backwards. If you use a drag chain ,never drag it out the back of the boat . You can really get started with a few baits ...A good double bucktail , shallow bulldawg for your shallow river , a crank/twitch bait like a grandma and a good glider, for rivers with current the Hell Hound tends to shine when current comes into play . GET A GOOD NET ! Don't waste your money at Dicks ETC , get a big Frabill or Beckman , I have both , I like the frabil but the Beckman is lighter, so when fishing solo I like the Beckman . Get hook cutters , again If you are going to get into this , get Knipex and be done with it . The other route is the ones at Lowes , they have a life time warranty so keep your sales slip . They work fine..... for a little while . Use REAL leaders or you will pay the price at some time or another . Pay attention to moon phases . With that being said , the front side of storms can be magic no matter what the moon phase . Good luck ! |

| Its very hard to keep anything butvtopwater from getting hung up all the time I www thinking topwater would always be good because the cover is/shallow am I wrong or right ? And wher can I read into the moon phase thing ? |

| Agree with VMS ! Learn to bang twitch baits off of the timber ..... Fast rising baits , run bucktails over the cover, and YES to top water . I have had good success with Vipers . |

| Hey man, I'm still gettin the hang if this deal myself, but what ill tell ya is listen to the Slut!!!!, him n his boys boat alotta fish, I can personally give him credit for teaching me pretty much everything I no about these fish, n small rivers is their game! Listen up n heed his advice!!! Lakes r another story but small rivers he's the guy to ask man seriously!!! I mostly fish creeks here lately n almost every presentation used on a small river applies to the places I fish!!! But from my experience Hellhounds n shallow bulldawgs r the way to go!!! Good luck n listen up, these guys r good at what they do man!!!! |

| Fish minnow baits like rapala in the deepest holes during the late fall. Reef Hawgs if you have the boat and tackle to fish them. Hard to work hawgs from shore. For that a spinning rod and minnow baits are best. |

| Nope, we soaked it pretty good. I never emptied the battery box and that was froze in tight. Had some pretty cold stuff the last week of THE season. last time I was on Bago my graph had the water temp at 29.5. Not sure how that's possible but lines were collecting ice and floating and rock bars were freezing from the bottom up. It froze over that night.
Cracks in MN next year, with goldies and squaws to the east.

Location: north central wisconsin | Seasonal deal like anywhere with regards to movements and patterns, especially if fishing long free flowing stretches. Don't be too focused on slack water. Turbulence offers cover, and you can view breaks as hard structure. Don't fish beneath em. Once you find em, any lures work provided you can work them in the current, maintain proper depth/speed/trigger. Twitchers, bump n rise jerks, gliders, topwater, newg-tails. Which part of the country are you located? One caveat is that some southern waters offer little documented topwater action which is still a mystery to me. If you're down there, break that mold and report back.

| Sounds like a great river. I do a good portion of my musky fishing on foot in small rivers. It is quickly becoming my favorite way to chase muskies. What type of questions do you have? What region of the country are you in? I will be doing a seminar on this type of fishing at the 2014 WI Musky Expo on Sunday morning March 2nd. The seminar will be titled "Muskies for nothing and your pics for free". I can of course answer some questions now though. Let me know. |

| Adam I am from Kentucky. I was wandering the best spot to target them and my river rises and falls quite often after a period of high water will the fish be inactive ? Is the bite good in the summer months ? |
