I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this with any success. I have tried it while lake fishing a couple of times with no luck and was thinking it may work better in the river where fish tend to be smaller? Thanks

Posts: 20248 Location: oswego, il | bluegills do work for bait. We cant use bream transporting fish from down south to use up north is frowned upon. ![]() Edited by ToddM 11/14/2012 8:59 AM

I thought they were considered a gamefish therefore being illegal to use as bait

Posts: 8832 | Depends on where you are from. In IL, bluegills can be used for bait provided they were caught on the lake you are using them in In WI, gamefish are legal to use for bait provided they are of legal size, caught with hook and line using a valid license, and counted towards your daily bag limit.
