I've been using both flourocarbon and 7 strand and recently my leaders have been tangling on about 1/3-1/2 of my casts. I've tried adjusting the arms of the spinnerbait but it hasn't seemed to help. Any other Ideas?? I had one day that this happened 10 times in a row which is extremely frustrating

Location: Eau Claire,WI | It must be the way you are casting.Try stopping the lure before it its the water. You might be overpowering the lure too, don't try for that extra 2 inches of cast length...

I was thinking it might be my casting. Ive been trying to guide them into the water which seems to help some, but it seems like some of the time they get tangled after it hits the water on the fall to the bottom.

Posts: 432 Location: Eagan, MN | Not sure if this question was for me, but I don't have anything against solid wire, just saying it's not 'needed' to stop your tangling problem. Solid wire works great, but so do coated 7 strand and flouro.

Posts: 114 Location: Kingston, Ontario | As mentioned, stop the bait just before it hits the water. This will make sure the line/leader is straight out and will eliminate most of the casting tangles. When bait first hits the water, let the reel freespool again and let the lure sink without line tension. When you've reached retrieve depth go ahead and reel in. Keeping tension on the line will foul the bait much more often than letting it sink with no tension.

Posts: 865 | **** Try something different **** Start the cast with it tangled already, and then cast it and see if it opens... Just Kidding, thumb the spool at the end of the cast, and try to make shorter line drive casts, do not Lob the cast up too high like a pop fly.....

Posts: 22 | Stop the lure in the air. Don't "power cast". Long armed spinner baits actually don't require a leader for musky. Good luck CPR

Posts: 358 Location: London, England | If you're fishing short armed spinnerbaits and are letting them sink before you start the retrieve (to gain depth), you'll find they often tangle. Long armed spinnerbaits are the kiddie for fishing where you want them to sink a bit. Otherwise, stop the cast before touchdown, as has been said.
