A truly massive brute of a pike was caught here in Sweden a few days ago by Gustav Ljung.

The fish measured 136cm (53 1/2") and 18,04kg (39,77lbs), a true monster of any measures.
The lake it was caught in is still unknown to the public and i absolutely hope it stays that way. Trolling on a large lake is all i know.
It was caught by Gustav Ljung, a student at Forshagaakademin (Forshaga Academy of Sportfishing) where i also study.

The pictures can be seen here:
http://fisheco.se/news.php?modulID=2&newsID=3098
and here:

More pictures might be coming soon. I'll keep you updated!
The fish was released live and kicking!

Awesome fish! Glad it was released and you go to an academy of sportfishing in a country full of tall beautiful blonde women? You are living the dream.

Could very well be from Vänern since the school is located about 13 miles from it.
Could also come from Fryken, another big lake that holds very big pike.

It was probably caught trolling open water for big pelagic pike. Though it could have been caught trolling a deep edge or something. It looks like a open water fish though...

Very nice fish! But what is interesting to me in that message is that you guys have an academy of sportfishing! Wow, I wish I had that choice of study! I can image my class schedule now. Bucktails 101 at 9:00, Drift fishing at 10:00, Etiquette 301 (let the bikini team have the first cast)…. I had to check it out for myself and I came across their facebook page and found the attached image. I’m feeling very proud of my Euro mutt heritage now!

Haha
We and the students in the "Sportssalesmansomethingrather" students had to jump in freezing water to see how it feels. If ee didn't do it we failed 5 courses.
The girls are from the "Sport-thingymaboob" xD

I'll take the one on the right and a cabin at Lake of the Woods for the season.

Why do they bring the fish onto the shore to take the picture? why not just take the picture on the boat?

To get a accurate weight, it's very hard to weigh big fish on a boat in big waves.
They keep the fish in the water and slowly move to shore.
I really dont like that people do it and i dont do it myself
