Location: Michigan | Trying to decide between the Fortrex 80 and Maxxum 80 on a Alumacraft Competitor 165.
I like the universal sonar and lift-assist of the Fortrex but i'm wondering if it will be too bulky/heavy on the bow of a boat of this size? |

| Apparently there is a lift assist available for a Maxxum.
This is just internet here say but it seems like I see issues with the Fortrex mount pop up now and again. You should be able to get U/S with the Maxxum too.

| We have a Fortrex and I don't think you will notice the weight difference. The lift assist is nice. |

| Can't speak for the newer Maxxum specifically, but the Fortrex is incredible. Got an 80lb on the 165 Navigator and love it. Had a 74lb Maxxum on the last boat (about 10 years old this year), and the Fortrex is way smoother. It won't be too big for your boat.
