does anybody know why some of these lures (wooden ones) have a staple inserted in the rotating tailpart. it is inserted in the wood on one side of the glue-line where the blade is inserted, goes over this line and is inserted in the wood on the other side again. I made one myself and I just glued the tail in with epoxy. I did drill holes in the tail so the glue could spread better. It's as solid as a rock. I just wondered about that. I don't know too many people who make these lures. Maybe someone here knows.

The staple is in there to keep the metal tail piece from falling out.

I have had Tally wackers and Teasertails that have had the tailpiece come out of them. I have yet to have that happen to a Topraider. Over time the tail pieces just seem to loosen up and fall out.

If you are making your own I would put a staple in them. God bless

thanks, I sort of thought that would be the reason. I think glueing them in with holes drilled in the metal tail is good as well. Time will tell.

Another lure to consider is the Hellraiser Spazm. It has a free spinning tailblade that is attached to the throughwire construction. It's one that you don't have to worry about the blade falling off and also, you can bend the cup on the blade and adjust it's sound.
