| de-stratification, as the water cools the cold water on the surface (becomes more dense) will actually move to the bottom of the lake causing the water on the bottom to rise , mixing all the water top to bottom;, fish need tome to adjust when this occurs each fall. Our girls don't seem to feed much at turnover, then afterward they can be scattered all over the lake.

This my take on fall turnover...
Good explanation. The turn over will somtimes cause the water to become dark from the bottom water and the matter from the bottom moving up. The turn over process will create more oxygen which is why the fish will spread out all over the lake. Shallow coves are not affected much because the water temps are more consistant there from top to bottom. |
