I have a ranger 690 with the terrova trolling motor and it hits the roller every dam time I put it in the water! I thought I saw a post about a slide plate to cure this problem on here. I can't seem to find the thread. If anybody knows where I can get that or something or some way to fix that problem I would love to know! Thanks

I think it's just the quick release bracket. Sounds like a hassle to me, and I know those Rangers/Terrova's have that problem. Is there something else to be done besides the bracket?

I have found that if I don't back the trailer in so deep that the front of the boat does not come crashing down on the winch roller. This may not make sense, but it works on my ranger.

as said above you need to adjust how far back you put the trailer in to work around the issue

Welcome to the club!! Such a pain in the butt!! I've installed the Minnkota Quick Release bracket, the really good one (MKA-32). It's super strong and works well. Unfortunately everytime I now launch my 620 I have to release bracket, set Terrova on casting deck, launch boat and put back on when done. It only take a few extra seconds but well worth not tearing motor off bow. I looked in the less expensive brackets that slide back but was told by several it's not as strong and has had problems supporting the Terrova. I wish Ranger could find a way to correct this but this is a very common problem with these motors. I don't have a problem retrieving boat but launching it is just one more thing on my list before fishing.

I have a 692. The Terrova will hit the roller if I go in too far on steep landings. I never unhook my boat until I start backing in a bit. I walk back, unhook the boat and push it about 6". I then go back into my vehicle and back up as normal. No problems whatsoever hitting the Terrova this way.

Haha....you guys have it all freaking wrong. This is not a problem at gradually sloping launches, only at launches that are too freaking steep.

At a steep launch, you HAVE too back the trailer WAY WAY in...get some water under the bow. So, with water under the bow when the boat comes of it is floating higher than that roller.

If your not in far enough when the boat comes off, it drops to water level, smoking that roller on the way down.

Skeeter makes a factory slide bracket now. Works pretty slick, pull a pin and slide it back out of the way.

Missed one point on this....do not unhook the boat from it's winch strap or safety chain until you have backed in plenty far
