Depends on where you plan on fishing. I have a Tuffy Esox I fixed up for northern WI. Works great for 250 to 500 acre lakes. I wouldn't want it on big water and it wasn't designed for that use. You can normally find a bunch of them for sale and almost all are in that price range or well under.

Tuffy. I think about letting my go for around 7k.All i have left is rewiring this winter and setting up the giant trolling motor on it. You can see pictures in the forum (1987 Tuffy Muskie Rampage)

Look for an older Tuffy. Great boat for fishing any kind of species.

i agree with the tuffy esox or a magnum if you can find one although there you may acquire a project. a worthwhile project tho. i've fished out of big boats, but for the money the biggest fishing platform and among the best for muskies is the esox magnum. it will fish in bigger water than most think ... i'm not saying leech, mille lacs, lotw or eagle when they really get up and rolling, but i brought mine to eagle and fished safely and in some tough stuff.

as previously stated ... define the water you want to fish and understand there might be limits. i know if i were limited on cash again i'd be looking hard for an esox mag. it's also a great stepping stone to upgrade down the line because it's a highly desired boat in the used market.

I truly believe a Tuffy or Ranger is your best bet. Both are great boats, offer great options and have excellent resale value.

In that price range, you will not find a better boat than a tuffy esox mag. Its the biggest little boat you can get and like others have said, the resale is great! good luck!

Another excellent platform is the Ranger 680t. They typically sell around your budget.
