I had a fish on the other day and it was a pretty decent fish, the fish was the swimming towards me and shaking its head. It ended up getting off because I didnt keep the line tight enough. I have a Heavy pole, would a MH help keep tension on the line in a situation like this?

Really depends on the rod. IMO, this is just a learning experience as most can keep any fish pinned just by pulling the rod sideways when that happens. Or up, let the fish tell you. I use mostly XH or XXH due to throwing lots of heavy lures. usually i prefer a rod with a Fast Tip and greater backbone. The problem i have with MH is they won't throw the larger stuff all that well.
