Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | That's definitely underpowered for that rig. You really won't be saving much on fuel costs in all likelihood with a 115 4 stroke because it's going to have to work that much harder then the 150 2 stroke that is on a lot of those. Underpowered rigs mean more fuel, longer times to get on plane, and getting a lot less back when it is time to sell.
as far as the rig itself, it's basically a glorified bass boat with seats instead of a bench. I know it's probably a lot more pricy but the 1850's give you a lot more deep v and room |

| How well would this rig handle the NWAngle area?
Does it sit low in the water?

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | Like I mentioned...this model is basically just a bass boat.So yes, you will be low to the water, windshield will help you stay dry but you are still going to get wet on the sides. Front and back decks are going to be pretty small.....
Not a very good rig for LOTW in my opinion, or musky fishing in general. |

| Looks pretty much like my boat.
I've got a '96 397xt. Basically the same boat from the looks of it.
I have had it on Mille Lacs and LOTW (in the Angle) a fair amount in some rougher stuff and have had pretty much zero issues. The only issue I did have was my fault not the boat's, and it wasn't anything major...just some water over the front...we were wet for awhile.
Not sure what the storage is in the newer vintage, but it is one of the drawbacks to mine. No rod locker, and not a ton of under deck storage, but I can deal with it. Front and back deck are great for musky fishing.
I really like the boat, and so does my family. It is great for cruising with the kids or tubing.
That said, if MOST of my time were spent on BIG water fishing I would probably go a different direction. |

Location: Minnesota | i would look at the 150 yamaha 4 stroke.i have one on a skeeter mx1825 will push it abought 48 mph my top speed was 50.8 but ill run at 40 most of the time.the 115 has the same power head as the 150 . if you get a 150 you will have a better resell value |

Location: Grand Rapids MN | It's an 05 used rig. He knows it's in the "underpowered" category but wasn't sure how bad.
Like mentioned those 1850 are a nice rig but he's getting (I think) a pretty good price on this boat. Everyone I know is getting new boats, may have to upgrade soon!  |

I am going to get it and see how it works out. Got a good deal.
My old boat was a 16ft. sylvan with a 90 hp on it, so this will be a change for sure, and guessing in a good way.
i am not to concerned about resale, getting a good price on it and will probably get the money back when and if i need to sell.
one thing about the angle i like is you can most of the time get out of the bigger waves if needed.
Hope to have it out this coming weekend or the next trolling season on LOTW!! |
