What do you feed suckers when keeping them for a few weeks? Or should i not even bother with it?

They'll last a couple of weeks without anything to eat. Just make sure to keep an aerator on them and change the water a few times and they should hold up just fine.

Thanks. Getting harder to find em now so i grabbed 15 when i could have them split up in a couple giant coolers with aerators running, changing water every other day. And now the colder weather will help em out also. Just want them to be kicking hard when i put em to work...not starving and lazy.

The sucker farmers raise them on chunk dog food.

I've found through trial and error that the best thing that will help is to use well or lake water (if you keep them in the lake). I've tried city water and they die after 2-3 days. Huge difference.

Tap water often contains chlorine, which is killing your fish. You can buy a chemical from the pet store that will clear it up, or let the water stand in an open container for a few days and it will evaporate on it own, OR, do as you suggested and get water from an un chlorinated source.

I put crappie minnows in with them, and they ate them.
