Well after numerious changes in plans im going to be visiting Chautauqua in western ny the week of October 8. I have read up some on the north end and south end and from what i can tell trolling the north works well and casting the south works well. I calles a shop their today and was told the water is warmer than usual at around 74. I actually thought it would be mid 60;s by now but i guess not. Any info and previous experiences would be great as i have no clue what i am in for. It will be my first trip outside NJ so really looking foward to new sites, new people, and hopefully some good fishing. Any info would be much appretiated. Thanks!

I fished the north end of the lake with a friend that lives in buffalo...There is nothing secret about fishing out there...There is a defined weed break. Fish on top of the weeds, at the weed line, or off the weedline. You can cast up north or troll. Do what you like!

Good luck!

south end the fish are kind of scattered all over the place...the north and south end are like 2 completely different lakes the north being deeper and more clear and the whole south end doesnt go below 18 ft and is flat and stained. big fish come from both ends but lately it seems its more of a south end bite it appears that the north end turned over.
