| I have some early season spots that have just rocked in the past. Little by little over the years, I seem to catch fewer and fewer fish from those spots. Weather and water temps, fishing preasure about the same as in the past so there is no reason why those spots should not rock like they did in the past.
I have one spot that I have boated close to 40 muskies from it in the first two weeks of the year over the past 8 years. But the last three years its been only one or two or none like this year so far. The number of fish I popped from this spot kepted lowering year by year.
Hmmmmmmmm....Any idea on why this happens when conditions are still the same? |

| Jason: I have had the same experience on one of my favorite lakes in Vilas Co. Over the years the Muskie fishing just seemed to be slowing while at the same time the Smallmouth fishing got better and better, What has happened is the dreaded RUSTY CRAYFISH, the cray fish population was progressivly getting larger as a result the weed beds were slowly being destroyed ruining muskie habitat but the smallmouths enjoyed an increase in food source at the same time. So based on this I think that it's the small changes over a period of time that affect our favorite fish location and we just need to figure out it affect the muskies, on my favorite lake it put the skis on more of a suspended bite vs weedbed bed

| Because the more things change, the more they stay the same!
Sorry Jason, I couldn't help getting philisophical for a minute. [] |

| Why not get cosmic? Things change because of "entropy", the theory that says everything in the universe is currently moving toward a state of maximum disorder. Entropy began with the big bang. Now, some folks feel that when the state of maximum disorder is reached, the entropy is reversed and everything in the universe will begin moving back to a state of perfect order. And when THAT state is reached, BANG!! the pendulum begins to swing back again.
Don't listen to the holy rollers on this topic; after all, the purpose of religion is to simply control the masses.
Glad I could clear that up for you in such a non-controversial manner.[:p] |

| Due to the musky's innate learning ability located in its large cerebral lobes, it has retrograde cognizance of your visage.
Dang things see you coming!!!! [;)] [:p]

| Ok, now for an attrempt at a serious answer...
As you are well aware, Jason, the shallow muskies frequently set up in wolf packs, and move in a 'spooky' fashion. Try fishing with a sheep.[]
Sorry folks, kind of an inside joke![::)] |

| Would a black sheep work better than the standard offwhite color of sheep? And how about a Corsican ram???
Inquiring minds wanna know.

| Things do change I just booked a romantic weekend for my wife and I for the full moon weekend of June. One of my favorites where I pound the big fish year after year ever since I caught those 4 thirty pounders and hour in 96. One good thing tho is that my next time is another 10 years away. [:sun:]
I sure hope she enjoys it for the $770+ (500 for you US guys) it's going to cost me on top of two prime days of fishing. But I gota earn some brownie points for a 4th weekend away in August for the muskiefirst Chitauqua outing.
You think the massage and romantic horseriding for two will be enought on top of the luxury suite with balcony, fireplace and wirlpool for two with 8 course meals? |
