I just have to comment about the level of lure making that has come out of the basement. I remember when this forum first started. There was a handful of guys who were willing to put up pictures of their latest creations, but most of all, there was a wealth of information flying around this forum, and I believe it provided lots of incentive to guys who might not otherwise tried their hand at lure making. I know that I gained a wealth of knowlege about lure making, some that I didn't even know that I would use some day. But over the last couple of years I have been floored by the talent that has shown up here. Once I am able to start making and painting lures again.....which will be soon......I'm going to think twice about posting pictures of my work because the talent pool is so deep with new and wonderful talent that I feel lacking. So many lures that look like they could swim right off the page. I guess I won't be painting any all black lures, even though they catch a ton of fish every year. But I'm going to keep on plugging away, even if my lures don't have fins that you can see through, or gill covers that look like they are actually flaring, or those eyes that follow you around the room. But what started out as a small group of guys has blossomed into a basement full of artists and wood workers and plastics gurus. And I say 'Bravo!' and Whoop D Doo! and anything else that says, "Wow, you guys are really talented, and thanks for sharing what you do with the rest of us."
To all of my brothers in the basement, well done.

I for one would encourage you to keep posting your lures regardless of whther they have fancy paint jobs or not. Ultimately it's the fish and not the art critics that are the final arbiters of what has value, and the fish only vote with their teeth. If all black lures or lures that are white with a red head or in schoolbus yellow are catching fish then the folks on this forum will recognize their value and appreciate your contributions.

If it wasn't for you, and some of the (sorry) old timers, these new guys wouldn't have started. Thanks Doug

Aw man, I hope your not calling me and Beav, "old timers"
Beav is still a very talented young pup and I may have been 38 years old for 32 years now but I but I still climb walls. So we aren't Old timers yet even though we may feel like it once in a while.
