I caught her last week Chimo Lodge, Canada, 43 inches and she was a supper heavy fish, she fought so hard in battle, but I think the main reason was she tangled herself up so bad in the net and wrapped herself up 3 times and she tangled the big custom crank in the net really bad also, it took me too long to get her and the lure out of the net I keep her in the water the majority of the time but she die. what is good net to use ?

nice fish, i usually just cut hooks when they get so wrapped up in the net like that. don't ever be hesitant to cut the hooks. you can let the fish revive a little bit before picking out the pieces.

I also use the net shown in the link and am very happy with it. The netting is very tangle resistant. Good tips above also about cutting the hooks. If a fish does get wrapped up in the net or is hooked badly, I cut each and every hook that is giving me problems.

After the hooks are cut, make sure the pieces still stuck in the fish are removed before releasing them.

I got one of the first Power Catch nets when they came out about 12 years ago. It has the super-heavy rubber coating that prevents a lot of problems and is easier on the fish. The new ones with the automatic locking handle are really nice.

Tangles in the net can happen if your fish death rolls while in there. I had that problem this past Wednesday. Cutters are important. Mini bolt cutters or a pair of Knipex cutters make short work of cutting the hooks out of a tangled fish.

As said before cutting the hooks is very important when the fish is tangled like that. other thing to watch out for is accidentally cutting the net. This can happen too. Superline can fix it fast. I have had fish swim through the net not knowing the net had been cut on a previous fish.

I've had fish get hopelessly tangled in the net so many times that unless I really want a picture of the fish I just hand land them or go for a boatside release. When I do use my net and a fish gets tangled I just cut the net. Takes no time at all to patch small holes with some heavy tipup line and a liquid rubber product.

I think he means the bolt cutters. I bought the 71 31 200 bolt cutters this spring and used them on my son's 51 incher. Saved the fish.

Knipex on ebay... $35-50

Best money you will ever spend on cutters. Blows away any other hand cutter out there.
