Always wondered how many are of us on here fishing Southern Ontario.

Lets say between LSC, Ottawa, throught the Kawarthas and Georgian Bay areas.

Im about an hour north of Toronto: Fish Kawarthas, some of the Maskokas and the French River

I've been going to the Kawarthas for musky fishing for several years, one week a year. I've fished most of the Kawartha lakes. One of my favorite things about the Kawarthas is the lakes are not very far apart but they differ in a lot of ways so if the fishing is poor in one lake, you can go to another one. Planning a trip in late September focusing on Sturgeon Lake, but will probably make side trips to Pigeon and Cameron or Balsam.

I'm about as far South East as you can get, but it's still in your range.

Fished Sowden Lake the last 15 years. Just got back and it was a super slow year. We always go mid summer and its never "one right after another" but we usually catch big fish and enough to eat. This year was below average

What are your favorite muskie lakes in the Kawarthas? Any recommendations for lakes and lures to fish (or avoid) in late September?

Balsam and Pigeon are know from the largest quality and large fish quantity. All the lakes (Balsam, Cameron, Stergeon, Buckhorn and Pigeon) have a high population density. But Balsam has been my mainstay.

Balsam is often gin clear so natural colours have always been the best. Perch or Walleye. Yellow and gold has always been killer.

Thanks for the tips. I'll let you know how we make out in September. I like to alternate trips between "numbers" waters and trophy waters. Last year we fished the Upper French River and got almost got skunked. The buffalo girls did not come out that week. So this year we're coming to the Kawarthas to lick our wounds.

I've been fishing Lower Buckhorn in the Kawarthas for about 30 years now. My brother and I will be there September 8-15. Look out muskies here we come. The last two years in a row my brother has lost muskies that would have been in the 50" class or very close.

I fish kawarthas and st. Clair.
But not much this summer - bought a new house - been very busy.
We should get out fishing Hometime. Don't know why I haven't emailed you yet.
