No. There are threads from each year with a video of the winning angler selection, which is based on a random draw.

I did a couple searches and didn't come up with anything. Then again, if the winner is determined by random draw, the winning fish photos don't interest me quite as much. Thanks for responding.

Skie-aholic,
Yes, the winner is chosen by a draw from all the entries, allowing everyone an even chance, and it states so clearly in the rules.

Obviously, the fish entered have to be 45" and above, hence the the name, 'The Lax Reproductions / MuskieFIRST Catch & Release (C+R) Contest' Note that title doesn't even suggest this is a contest for the largest fish. Try reading a little, maybe.

If after you actually know what the contest is all about it's still an issue with you, I'd suggest you do not enter any fish for a chance at a FREE Replica by Rick Lax.

The winner seems pretty happy each year.

Free, a beautiful replica to the winner, and someone complains.

What I want to say, I can't, Slamr will delete it.

only thing lame is if you don't enter the contest and then complain about it -I sure am glad I did:)

Now, thats a pretty fish that happens to be huge. Great job guys.

Well Steve I'll say it then. Skie-aholic your a dumb-ass. Read the rules of the site and the contest. If you're going to whine and complain about something at least know what you're talking about.

What's worse - someone expressing their opinion that they think the random drawing is lame, or everyone else jumping at the throat and name calling? I didn't hear any whining and complaining.

I too thought that the winner was chosen by someone or some group based on a few factors; maybe size, fisherperson (who caught the fish), smile, background, or whatever. For example, muskymartin67's fish - that's a beautiful picture of a huge fish, held by two guys who seem to be really pumped. Thans for posting the pics.

No need to get all defensive, sarcastic, and rude about it. I didn't read the rules well enough.

It is based on a few factors. The fish was 45 inches or bigger. It was submitted with a photo and info about lake and presentation, date, etc. Whatever is one of those factors. And the final factor is the winner's name was drawn by someone, at random, and announced at a musky expo.

Enter, dont enter. It's free to enter and it's free not to enter. If you enter with a pic that qualifies, you have a chance to win a free replica. If you don't win, uploading your pic should have only taken you maybe 35 seconds. If you don't agree with the process by which a random pic is chosen, don't enter and save yourself the 35 seconds of work to enter.

If we had a set of criteria, so many more people would complain that the parameters are wrong or the judging is biased, or favoritism plays in, etc. etc. So, it's random.

jaultman,
I wasn't speaking to you; I even addressed who I was talking to; the guy who went off sideways without looking at the rules, and I didn't 'insult' anyone, I pointed out someone was WAY off base without exerting the effort to at least try to understand the process first. And that will stand.

Your comments were quite reasonable.
