I just took apart my Toro 60 to Clean it now the drag doesn't seam to be strong enough, Is there a special grease that you use on these or did I mess up putting it back together, when you crank the drag down the handle turns hard. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

You CAN NOT USE reel grease on drag washers, the only grease is Shimano Drag Grease or Cal's, take it back apart and soak drag washers in ACETONE and you can install them dry for more stopping power, I use a very light coat of Cal's on my reels drag washers so they are smooth and water proof.

Sounds like you put the two ()-washers under the star-drag in wrong, and they may be pressing down on the bearing or so...

Event with the drag fully tightend, it should not make turning the handle any harder.!!

First DON'T LUBE THE DRAGS! If you did you need to wipe off as much lube as possible and then try to scrape the surface with something like a razor blade to "rough them up again" and then they MIGHT work again.

The handle turning harder is most likely from putting the washers in the wrong order. I had the very same problem once and just about pulled all my hair out till I realized I that part #43 on the linked scematic was not below the gear but on top of the drag stack.

Got it fixed, I had one washer flipped around. Works great now. Where can I buy some of that Cals reel lube?

Go to SMOOTHDRAG.COM Dawn will take care of you, she also has Carbontex Drag washers for all reels and custom sizes and ABEC 7 - 5 spool bearings.

Yep. Good folks.

I grease all my drags. You don't lose much power at all, and make them much smoother.
