Rob,
We will be on the ice very very soon...I have a couple pretty good secret lakes over here, if they pan out you want to visit for a tip up walleye and tip down crappie trip?[:)]

Did someone say Crappie???? My buddy at work has been frothing at the mouth for ice fishing. I told him it's way too early to be doing that. That he'll have more than his fill of ice fishing by the end of March. I wish someone would tell Mother Nature that. Looks like my musky fishing this year has quickly spiral down to a halt..[:blackeye:]

Anyway, I'll be checking in on the icefishing chat room this winter if anyone wants to talk. Should be a good way to make it through the winter until the next opener. Ya hear that MnEsox? he,he,he

We had 7 degrees this morning in Tower and 3 inches of snow.
Not to much open water left, the Big V is going fast.[::)]

We hit in the 50's today in IL, and the big bass are on the prowl. Fun, but rather be musky fishing. I am near lake carlton, I wonder if there is any muskies there?[:)]

Had to break through over 200 yards of ice to get on the lake this morning on a lake near Hazlehurst. But it was worth it landed a nice one and lost another at the boat. Man I love WINTER....

Jim,

What was the pattern for catching those two fish in such cold water.

Thanks

ROB!!! WANNA GO ICEFISHING ON A SPECIAL WALLEYE LAKE??

Still very cold, but moderating next week to a Pacific jetstream, maybe our warm spell will be too late.[:blackeye:]

I have the desired schedule for the weather.

Warm during the week of Thanksgiving, in the 40's for the daytime.
Snow the last afternoon and night of rifle, about 2 inches.

Cool, say 30's for highs, during the black powder season.

Melt the snow, then get cold second week December, freeze the lakes up real good, then snow enough for the sled heads before the holidays, but not so much it stresses the remaining deer herd or makes ice fishing tough.

Winter ends in March, lakes thaw by April 1, boats sell like mad.[]

Steve,
Let's see what we can do about a date. I'm still on weekends at the store and the show season pops up way too quickly so the sooner we can plan the better!

I can fish weekdays until the shows start, so if a weekday works, we can Frabill it out there for an afternoon and evening. My son gave me a tip on a lake everyone drives past with very nice crappies and BIG 'eyes. One of his associates at work took a 13 out of there last winter. Definitely worth a try.[:0]
