| Was looking into picking up a rod balancer to put on a LT big dawg but wanted to know which ones you guys recommend and if how well they fit on the LTs for those of you who use them? Thanks |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I make my own out of sheet lead or strap lead. Cut strips to bend and fit to the end of the handle until I have what I want, and cap it with furniture leg rubber caps or black tape.
Bass Pro has nice ones, but they don't fit the really big muskie rod butts well. |

| Thanks Steve, I know they have two different ones. One is 9.99 and looks just like a rubber cap you slide over the end...id be interested to know how well they stay on while casting? I believe the st croix rods in general have smaller diameter cork than other companies would it fit those rods alright? Thanks again |

Hello, I have the LT Big Dawg with the rod balancer from Bass pro, model#1200.
It works well, although to make it balanced to my liking(w/calcutta 400te) I needed 4 of the weights. With this added weight there is only about 3/4" of rod inside the balancer. I use electrical tape to help keep it on. I like Steve's idea, it seems like it would be easier to customize. I hope that this helped.

If you have time could you please post a pic of the rod balancer you make. Just got a 9'3" XH Okuma and was woundering if I should try to make my own or just get the Basspro model?

Location: Hayward, WI | If using the one pictured I like to wrap the rubber with hockey tape, it gives me a better grip and prevents the black from rubbing off on your shirt. |
