I have been thinking about making some of my own Fluro Carbon Leaders...Anyone have any insight on the best way to tie them? Or does anyone have any they have made which they would want to sell? Make it a lot easier on me....LOL

I don't know if I'd use them. Paul Hartman gave a seminar last night and had some industry info on fluoro. Apparently it looses 80% of it's strenght when 10% damaged. That's a pretty amazing stat. and I don't know if it's worth the risk. I've had other friends who use it on circle hook rigs that have had it bitten off. Just my $.02

Mike I put 77 legal muskies in the boat this year all on 50lb flourocarbon leaders without a bite off, this includes quick strike rigs with suckers. I have had my share of slightly damaged rigs and some leaders but it always did its job. I am a firm believer that it put more fish in my boat. If you have a nick in the leader or quick strike rig just grab a new one and rebuild the old one. Just my opinion on flourocarbon.[;)]

Mike, what length do you make the Flurocarbon leaders for the sucker rigs? Thanks, Al[:0]

If I was to make these leaders, would it be better to tie or crimp? If tie what knot should I use...I am making these leaders for trolling...I will probably make them from 200lb Fluro.

That depends on the length of the suckers I am using and the lake I use them on. I use one 2 inch and another 4 inch on most rigs. Some I make 3 inch and 6 inch for the bigger suckers. The leaders I attach to the rigs are usually 3 foot long. I run my weights just above the snap on my main line. My rigs are like a herbie/lift off rig. Kind of my own invention and have worked great this year. Start with a split ring then tie direct to ring and direct to hook, repeat with second line making it longer, finish with some fishing glue sharpen hooks. I have lots of different leader lengths for different situations, shallow water/deepwater. Some line is better than others so do your home work before you buy. I can't remember the brand I used but will look it up because I need to pick up some more. It costs about $35.00 for 30 yards if I remember correctly. When I set the hook with these rigs I set it twice, as hard as I can and have not had one fail yet. There is a risk involved with flourocarbon vs wire but on high preasured lakes and clear lakes it makes a difference. [:praise:]

But the Question is......WHY!!!

WHY are florocarbon leaders producing?

Maybe because thats what we are using all the time?[;)]
