| Nope...not at all.
Who am I kidding...very often I'll have multiple rods with DDD's on them. Sometimes 4 rods or more with DDD's ready to go. Crank 'em deep, twitch them a foot below the surface, make them glide, search with them, use as a toss back bait, troll them.
If I would have known then what I know now I wouldn't own half the baits I have. DDD's are the crescent wrench in my tackle boxes. |

The 10 inchers were definitely moving and catching fish for me last fall (first time they got wet for me). You do have to work it a little harder then the smaller cousin, and I found giving them a decent snap got them to kick out okay. You can definitely feel when they kick out. I fished them the same as I do the smaller ones with long pauses, and even had 2 fish chase at the same time the first time using it last year.
I've been throwing them on a 9'3 Okuma XH and that rod works perfect for them. You do have to watch your casts though, as I found when I was careless, I hung the leader on the hooks quite a bit at first. Feather that puppy out there, and no issues (the thing casts a mile too when you get used to throwing it).
It'll definitely get more use this year, although I haven't thrown it yet this year (mostly due to not fishing in July since it's hot as the bejesers out there). Throw it and play, but you get a good feel out of it when twitching or pulling it (with a hard twitch/pull, you'll feel it kick out).
As for the DD/DDD question, the DD is the shallow version of the bait. |

| Thanks fellow fisherman. I am slowly developing a carpal-tunnel problem in one hand. I do switch hands both casting and reeling. Still get very sore when twitching this bait. This week I tried the technique of making the bait react the same way as twitching by using the reel/twitch method. I honestly feel that this new technique will delay any surgeries for years!
Now I can continue to cast one of my favorite baits which produced my PB 51" last fall.
Muskie fisherman don't quit fishing because they get old, they get old because they quit fishing! KEEP CASTING!!
