what?!? hellhounds have got to be the worst hook % glider out there right behind the manta and sorry they are not erratic, if you consider a fast spaz walk return erratic then i suggest you try a warlock and you will see the difference.

Hey Dude, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. Don't know what you mean by a "fast spaz" retrieve, but it doesn't sound like what I do at all. I don't agree with you at all about the hooking %'s either...but hey, sounds like you've got it all figured out. Good fishing to you.

i was just stating that i dont think that the hellhound is classified as a erratic glider, and i hear and have lost a lot of fish on the hellhound kinda like the manta, remember the rubber band trick on the manta....i bet you put a bigger hook on the belly of your HH but that being said....i STILL LOVE THEM!!!!! they are known for their ease of use and consistancy. give someone a smutley dog and give someone a hellhound and which do you think they can use better off the bat? that would be the HH cause it is built and designed to walk consistant it is a #*^@ good bait.

with the warlock they just run that way just by walking the dog and twitching, fairly easy. could you share how you make the hellhound run erratic so we here on this forum could try it out?

+2 on the stalker. You can make it dance like no other. I love the action on these baits!

hh is a walk the dog baits with just a little belly roll, something that the manta can't do,that being said i would never call a hh a good dancer,of course he dance a lil,but he dance something i can call,up line dance.
now if you want to see something that can do some breakdance you better try old undertaker, jerko, hustler, just to name a few
imho with these you will look more like a micheal jackson instead of willie nelson hehehe.
don't get me wrong the most erratic baits is not necessarily the most productive

Yeah sure, hellhounds can be erratic but I don't think they are erratic by design. Trying to make an undertaker or squirko to dance left right left right is an exercise in futility, for me anyways. I suppose you could use a hellhound as an all purpose glide bait (throw your tacklebox away!) but I think there are other baits that fit the erratic niche better.

hellhounds have a bad hooking % you say Kodiak????
um I'll say that is called operator error....I do very well on hhounds...and they can be worked erratic...imo there are more erratic gliders that can be "danced" (up/down/left/right) but hhounds are one of the few i throw...
baby squirkos are great
sq phantoms (6")
and sq hellhounds are about the only 3 I throw and catch lots of fish on em all...

I must own a dozen or so Cobb's of all kinds. I personally think they provide the must action in these amount of water covered. I'm surprised they haven't been mentioned yet.

no you can't! manta's do not have belly roll Steve.. what do you consider belly roll? belly roll to me is this..

say your standing looking down at a river or lake and all of a sudden a you see the flash of a white belly.. that's belly roll when the bait rolls to the side and show it's belly.. a manta does not roll to it's side ever!! the shape and tail stop that from happening.. you can take a piece of glow tape or even paint the whole belly of a manta with glow in the dark paint, charge it up and go out at dark and throw it around.. you will never see the glow of the belly.. trust me i have a glow belly manta..
