| I want to determine if I fixed my fuel problem..... I am going to a 9.9hp limit lake tomorrow and would like to determine if I fixed my fuel problem (bogging down at WOT after about 5 minutes). However, in order to do this I need to run WOT (wide open throttle) for about 5-10 minutes. Will I hurt the engine if I run at WOT without the boat being in gear, in the water? If the answer is no, can I do the same with the garden hose running water to the engine?
Thanks

| I am not a mechanic but I would not suggest running your motor at high RPM without a load (in gear, in the water) on the motor. I do know that you should never run your motor on the earmuffs/garden hose at anything above idle. It just doesn't get enough water presure to stay cool.
Sounds like you are having the same problem I had earlier this summer. The fuel bulb was getting sucked dry after a good long run. Try to find a small air leak in your fuel line and replace that fuel bulb if its more then a couple years old. |

| Doc, you might check out:
http://www.bassboatcentral.com/mfg_links2.htm
for e-mail and phone numbers to motor manufacturers. Ask them if your owners book does not cover it, or call your dealer. I'd hate to think that I told you one thing and you learned later it was wrong... best wishes for big fishes, m[] |
