WASTED a great day today.

AARRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I need help so that I don't waste tomorrow. My tilt/trim
for my 50hp merc is stuck in middle position. I can't get it lower than half way. It seems to get stuck. I can raise the motor until it is fully up. I went through the merc manual and used the release screw to tired it by hand it it still sticks in midway down. Is there anything else I can try? Immediate help in the matter is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I've got an aftermarket Panther T/T on my Merc 25. I've been having problems with mine not going back down. Works fine going up but hangs on the way back down. Anyway, I think I tracked it down to a bad switch relay. Sorry, but doesn't sound like that's the problem with yours. Sorry I couldn't be any more help.

If you released the system by using a screwdriver and the unit did not go down past halfway, the problem is not in the hydraulics, as that is de-pressurized when you release the screw. Check the bracket and lift rods for obstructions, and see if you actually can hear the release when you turn the trim hydraulic release screw...best I can offer.

SharpHooks-
Not to insult your intelligence, but did you check to make sure the manual motor support did not get bumped and drop into place?? That would only allow the motor to drop about 1/2 way.

Just to show that I can make some pretty easy mistakes, I had a problem with my work computer not logging on. I called the support people and they told me "turn off the number lock button". Geez, talk about feeling like a dumbass.

That is what I meant by 'check the bracket'. Guess I should have been more 'direct'. Glad it is OK!![] []

I think your situation is called a "Brain Fart", I had one of those the first day I got my new boat stopped at home to get some stuff and then off to the lake, Launching the first time no problem, Parked the car and went (Ran) back to the dock there she was my brand new boat ready to go, the water at the landing was quite shallow so I stood proudly on the bow and used the trolling motor to pull me into deeper water, finally in 6 ft of water I pull up the electric and sit in the captains seat, push the tilt / trim button and the motor moves into running position, Ok let's start her up I turn the key and the motor does nothing for an hour I checked literally everything on the boat Battery, Gas, Cables Etc. everything still no go so I get on the Cell Phone ready to rip the Dealer a new butt hole or two when he asks me if I put the kill switch lanyard in OH POOP a Brain Fart while the dealer was on the phone I find the lanyard an put it into the kill switch, turn the key and the motor starts right up sounding as sweet as can be.

BRAIN FARTS, We all have one or two

Hooks-

Glad I could be of assistance. I have made a lot of brain farts in my time that's why I'm so good at figuring them out.

Hope this weekend goes better for you.

Steve, mark that down for me. "Theedz actually helped someone."
