| My fellow club member is moving to AZ and sold off some of his musky equipment. I scored an "all most" new short, and I mean short, Jerkbait rod.
Took 'er out this weekend for a test drive and must admit....I'm in love.
I could work my Hellhounds, Phantom, Suicks, Reef Hawgs, and a variety of other jerkbaits like never before. Nice straight down wrist action. I was using a TI XH for that application (to be clear, not knocking TI rods, I have three and like them).
It's stiff, but not a pool cue. I'm going old school - anybody experience the same?

| Yep, the short rods are Great. I personally think that the best two jerk bait rods ever made are the St. Croix 6'9" rods. I have a 6'9" Avid heavy, and a new Tournament 6'9" Heavy and they are just Awesome. They are as light as a feather and will make a novice work a jerkbait like a pro.............................Mike Sr. |

Location: Denmark | I have used 6.6 for jerkbaits for a long time, resently the new Musky Innovations 6.6, 7oz rod. I find the shorter rods, gives you a better feling with jerkbaits. Especially when fishing large wooden gliders. The feeling with a short St Criox or MI rod are seccond to none, especially the strikes!.

Location: North St. Paul, MN | I use the 6'9" heavy St. Croix Premier and this gets it done for me. I also have a 7'6" heavy St. Croix premier blank that I built...Gotta say I use the 6'9" 10/10 times. Poor rod that I built sits in my garage! |

Location: Smith Creek | If you like the 63 XHF, St. Croix still has the the Tournament version in a split grip for $140. If a guy didn't like the split grip he could strip the cork and make it a full grip for less than the price of a Premier. |

Location: Chaska MN. | Yup I have the same rod in my arsonal and it has caught alot of fish , I went to a 6"9 a few years ago and the action is simler my son now uses the 6"3 and yea it does make um dance .
I have tried a 8 ft xtra heavy on jerkbaits but dont get the same consisant action
so i still use the 6"9 and that works great. |
