| So I've been looking at used Lowe FM 165s and 175s in the years 2004-2008. They look to be in the same line up as Fishhawks and Navigators but I have no experience with Lowe boats whatsoever. Can anyone with experience tell me how these boats compare to each other. Looking for opinions on fishability, durability, speed, and rough water ride. Thanks guys. |

Location: Detroit River | I don't own one but fished with a friend that had a 2004 FM175 w/side console. It was a wet ride. He no longer has the boat. He got rid of it after driving across LSC in a 1 foot chop & 5 welds in the bow cracked. The warranty took care of it but after that he wanted to go with a fiberglass boat.
If you plan to fish big water I'd steer clear of Lowes.
I have heard no complaints from people that own Alumacrafts. I have fished LSC in a Crestliner Fishhawk 1850 & it was a nice boat to fish out of but it was a wet ride in a side console.

| Very wet, rough ride. I've ridden in one many times on St. Clair and Erie (as well as inland lakes) and they beat the p1$$ out of you. Also, they sit really, really high in the water and blow around easily (think empty pop can) . Even on Erie in slight chop we were wet and sore. I wouldn't have even blinked in those conditions with my boat. If I were looking for an aluminum I'd only look at Lund/Alumacraft (IMO). There are other nice boats out there, but those 2 have the better reputations for better rides for aluminum. |
