| I am going to try and take a second trip later this summer to LOTW to Nestor Falls. I have been going to LOTW for 12 years, but have always launched out of the NW Angle or Sioux Narrows. Looking to stay in Nestor Falls for this "bonus" trip. I have been looking online and trying to keep it cheap with housekeeping plan. Looks like Red Deer Lodge, Sunset Cove, and LOTW Lodge (on an island) are good cheap options. We are really not interested in the hotel rooms at some places. We would rather have our own cabin. Any comments on the above resorts or any other recommendations? It would be nice to grab a meal if we don't want to cook one night. Any bars within walking distance? Thanks | |||

Posts: 336 Location: Lino Lakes, MN | I haven't been up to LOTW since 2008, but we stayed at Canadian Haven in Nestor Falls for 3 years and it was a really nice place. Not sure if its still around or owned by the same people, but the owners were extremely nice, attentive, and helpful each time we were up for a trip. Its really close to Greens, which is a must-stop place for a burger and beer if you're in the area. Feel free to drop a PM if you'd like some spots and areas that produced well for us during our trips in August/September.

That's been our hangout for quite a few years, but we do some spur of the moment trips, where booking is a problem at Helliars, and we opt to C & C, which has it's own docking, motel, camping, and cabins. Very reasonable, but cabins need some work, which we could care less about, since we aren't looking for anything more than a bed, kitchen, toilet, shower, and a frig on Musky trips.

Posts: 125 Location: North Saint Paul, MN | I have been staying at Red Deer Lodge for 20 years and my dad has been staying there for 40 years. It is a very nice place to stay. The owners Ray and Roxanne are great people. Very nice and socialable and always make the stay enjoyable. It is up the road a couple miles from Nestor Falls so you won't be able to walk to a bar, and they don't offer any meal plans.

Posts: 175 | Ball Cap - said it elsewhere but I have been going to Sunset for a long time. Wayne and Diann are the best, nice clean cabins and a great location near Nestor. A home run. PM me with questions. http://www.lakeofthewoodssunsetcove.com/

Location: Hayward ,Wisconsin | x 2 on Sunset cove great people. They had everyone in the resort get together one night for a fish fry down at the shore, fresh laketrout, it was awesome. Also made their brochure in the fishing part with a nice ski, sixth picture down. The boat that we rented from them was nice too.

Posts: 518 Location: Cave Run Lake KY. | Steve ( Midge ) , You must know Mike Baranowsky, He was our guide for over 15 years This I belive he sold Sunset Cove to Johnny Unsworth back in the 70's Mike signed a agreement with Unsworth that Mike could not guide clients with out he's Ok for five years after the sale. We staid at many different Resorts over the years but allways got Mike for our guide for one to three days for the trip. Mike emailed me two year's ago that summer whould be his last year of guiding. He must still live in Nester fall . HE was guiding LOW when a new bait came out it is called the RAPALA. ANY WAY say Hi from Marv. The Musky Duster guy from Milw. Marv.

Posts: 925 | Funny stuff. When I actually login my name is MuskyMidget. When I'm not logged in I usually use the guest name as Ball Cap and sometimes use Money Maker. So for those of you that are confused I hope that explains things. Midge. Ball Cap. Money Maker.

| Met the owner of C&C last year on my way out to Rowan Lake----he's got a great facility----motel or cabins---it's up to your needs----plus plenty of knowledge on where to fish on the Woods. Good luck---Jobu | |||

| C&C is a motel/ cabin rental resort located next to the Nestor Falls Motel right on HWY 71. I was flying out to Rowan the following morning and just happened to meet the owner at a local watering hole. He was totally cool about sharing info about fishing the Woods. Maybe they are in the Nestor Falls business directory. The accommodations were simple yet comfortable---- and the info he shared with us was spot on. Good Luck---Jobu | |||

Location: Hayward ,Wisconsin | C&C is nice too. Some of the motel units have kitchenets. Very affordable. Is Omar still the owner?
