Posts: 661 Location: Sussex, NJ | I've got some Shadzilla's and absolutely love them, but I notice that they have a very strong plastic smell to them which is expected since they are brand new. Personally I do not want my bait to smell like plastic while I'm fishing with. So here is my question does this bother anyone else? And does have an idea on how to rid my Shadzilla's of the smell? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Brandon

Posts: 1360 Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | I LOVE the Shazilla's!! I guess it has never bothered me at all. I feel like all plastic baits smell like that for a little while. I would say just keep using them and it will eventually drown itself out. But if you are truly concerned you could just buy some gulp bait spray in any scent and spray it on there. But the fish that I have caught with them I have used brand new out of the package, strong plastic smell and the fish could honestly care less.... You may care, but the fish don't IMHO.

Posts: 833 | I haven't noticed any issues with odor on mine. One thing I have noticed is they do not play nice with flashabou. For whatever reason the plastic in the Shadzilla sticks to the flashabou very easily. You have to pull fairly hard to separate the baits which can cause damage or loss of skirt to the bait with the flashabou. On a side note, the new Magnum Shadzilla was one of my favorite new products at the 2012 shows. That might be the first bait I troll this year.

Posts: 1360 Location: Lake "y" cause lake"x" got over fished | I picked up the Mini zilla's. in the three pack at the expo, I got one of the mixed packs, super excited to see how they are. Plan on grabbing a new reg size and a mag size before the season starts. Can't wait to get them in the water, It is going to be the first out of the box this year i think. Man those things are sweet!

Posts: 1023 | I obviously know nothing about plastics/chemicals - just pointing out the baits are made in Canada. I guess the plastic is likely imported eh:)

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | not necessarily. it's one of those things where we tend to get all up in arms about doing things to keep from harming fish, water etc... almost to a fault, yet we'll throw anything into the water that will get a fish to eat it. from my experience in china and the chemistry that's still used there without regulation or question ... i can imagine ingesting some of that (benzene, toluene, ethyl cellusolve, mek ... etc...) that you could damage as much water or fish with the baits you throw as anything. i haven't looked at the soft-plastics as closely as i should (in the bass industry), but part of making them "life-like" means having some pretty active chemistry "out there". makes leaded sinkers look like chicklets from this perspective.

Seems like the fish LOVE the plastic smell of the Bondy baits!!! Because of that, I do too!!! Seriously, it will make no difference to a Muskie.
