| Whats your favorite rod for casting mag bulldawgs and other heavy jerkbaits or twitching large cranks?

The St. Croix 8' Classic Cat is the way to go!
Handles 2-8 oz. lures!

| I have 2 different rods that I use for the dawgs: 7'6" Lamiglas XH, and a 7'10" Loomis XH Trolling Rod. Haven't decided which one I like better, but I'd say shoot for longer and as heavy as possible. It's much easier on the back....

| The classic cat is a good rod for Bull Dawgs but the soft tip on it makes it difficult to work crankbaits through the weeds. For that reason I use the 7'6" St. Croix Premier MFH. This is my go to rod for Bull Dawgs, Depth Raiders and 10 inch Jakes and 9 inch Grandmas.
The stiffer tip allows me to work the weed edges and keep my crank baits weed free all day long. There is no better way to stay on a weed edge than to follow the edge with a crank bait. Good luck and God bless.

| I use the G loomis 7'10" extra heavy (6 oz) muskie troller or a st croix proglass extra heavy 7 ft also good to 6 oz the classic cat seemed alittle soft in the tip since a bigdog weighs 6 oz either of these rods will do nicely the geeloom is about $265 and the st croix is about 120-130 whatever you use put 100lb test on it and a good leader or your dog might run away good luck rwolfe |

| I personally don't feel casting a Mag Dawg to be the issue, as you can lob one with most any stick. However, when it comes to ripping that massive hunk of soft plastic through the clamped jaws of the toothy one, I'll stick with the 6'10" Hughes River Lammy. |

| Speaking of Dawgs, what do yo'all think about the new solid wire setup vs the 7 strand. Those solid wire Dawgs are just giving me fitts. They just hit the water wrong and they get out of tune. Brad at Musky Innovations told me he was tired of folks losing fish on the braided. That alone was good enough reason for me. But I'm getting tired of wasting casts. All in all, still the best dam musky bait out there. |
