Posts: 122 | On August 18th and 19th the WORLD MUSKIE TOURNAMENT SERIES™ (WMT Series™) will be continuing its 2012 regular season of qualifying tournaments with the PROFESSIONAL MUSKIE ANGLER CIRCUIT™ (Pro- MAC™) R.A.M.M. CUP OPEN™ on the Manitowish Chain of Lakes. The Manitowish Chain R.A.M.M. CUP OPEN™ is the fourth of six qualifying events for the Pro-MAC™ with the season ending champions of the Pro-MAC™ being determined by the team who has the most points throughout the year. Teams on the Manitowish Chain will not only be competing to win the R.A.M.M. CUP OPEN™ but also to finish in the top fifty (50) in points during the 2012 Pro-MAC™ season to qualify for muskie fishing's most prestigious event at the WORLD MUSKIE TOURNAMENT SERIES™ (WMT Series™) Championship™ where a first place prize could net a team a whopping $100,000.00 and $160,000.00 cash purse if minimum participation is met. Already the 2012 WMT Series™ has had enough early participation during the regular season to “crush” the previous record for the biggest Muskie Tournament Circuit Championship cash pay-out of $55,000.00 that was set in 2011 by the WMT Series™. As more and more teams enter in to the remaining qualifiers for the 2012 season regular, the Championship's pay-out will continue to increase. The lower section of the Eagle River Chain of Lakes will be the setting for the history making 2012 WMT Series™ Invitational Championship on October 6 th & 7th. The entire Manitowish Chain of Lakes will be open for the competition with Greer's Pier on Spider Lake and Bartling's Alderwood Resort on Alder Lake being the two ease out locations to spread the field out and put the competitors closer to their favorite waters to fish on the chain. The WMT Series™ has been making the Manitowish Chain a regular stop on the circuit since 2003 and for very good reasons, it has been rated by many as the best muskie fishery in the state, producing a healthy mix of quality trophy muskies and numbers of fish which is what every muskie angler dreams of, especially tournament muskie anglers who are looking to pile on points to qualify for the Invitational Championship. The Pro-MAC™ Manitowish Chain R.A.M.M. CUP OPEN™ tournament will have a purse of $31,000.00 when the field of competitors reaches one hundred and twenty five (125) teams. The cost to compete in a Pro-MAC™ event is $370 per two angler team for each event. The Manitowish Chain muskie qualifying tournament still has some open spots remaining. If you are interested in fishing the Pro-MAC™ Manitowish Chain qualifier, you can register for the tournament on line, or at the pre-tournament Friday night registration, August 17 th at Little Bohemia Restaurant on HWY 51 in Manitowish Waters from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. The Saturday night festivities and ease out location for the Manitowish Waters event will be held at The Rustic Roadhaus on HWY 51 starting at 4:30pm. Tournament hours will be from 6:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday and 6:00am to noon on Sunday. The awards for the Manitowish Chain event will be held at the Little Bohemia Restaurant on Sunday at 2:00pm at the conclusion of the qualifying tourney. The WMT Series™ events are open to the public. Posts: 122 | Hemauer and Burg Sunday's Two Win Manitowish R.A.M.M. Cup™ The WORLD MUSKIE TOURNAMENT SERIES™ (WMT Series™) visited the Manitowish Chain of Lakes for the 2012 season of the PROFESSIONAL MUSKIE ANGLER CIRCUIT™ (Pro-MAC™) R.A.M.M. Cup Open Championship™ on the weekend of August 18th and 19th. The R.A.M.M. Cup Open Championship™ was the third qualifying event of the six major open championships for the Pro-MAC™. A severe cold front passed through the area the Thursday before the tournament started on Saturday, forcing the participants to change up their tactics in hopes of putting a muskie or two “on the board". Although the weather conditions did prove to make angling difficult for the competitors, the muskies that were active were above average in size with seven (7) muskies measuring at least 34 inches and five (5) of them exceeding 40 inches for the first day of competition. Sunday morning's continued cold air temps produced the unwelcoming effect of thick fog that delayed the start just a little over an hour, but the when the fog cleared enough for the ease-out to commence, the veil of fog that hovered over the water obscuring the sun's penetrating rays affording anglers to make better contact with their quarry producing two better than the previous day's seven (7) muskies for a total of sixteen (16) muskies for the competition. The first muskie to be registered for the tournament would come from the team of Neil Barnett and Scott Chisholm at 6:40am with a 45.50 incher. First place would change hands at 10:10am when the largest muskie of the day would be captured by Ryan and Ron Meyer with a dandy 47.50 incher. The only team to double up for the day would come from Randy Kauranen and Phil Markgraf with muskies of 41 inches at 1:25pm and a 40.25 incher at 1:49pm that would give the duo an impressive combined score of 81.25 inches and at the top of the leader board with one more day remaining for the competition. Sunday's dense fog delay pushed back the ease-out time a little past 7:00am but the muskie action wouldn't be postponed as the first muskie would be tallied at 7:31am by Dave Schmitz and Dave Shelbrack when they landed a hefty 45.50 “ lunker. Just six minutes later another monster 45.50 “tiger muskie would be scored by Lance Hemauer and Brad Burg at 7:37am, but the duo wasn't done yet, as they would be the only team to catch two muskies on Sunday by adding a 39.75 incher to their total besting the opening day leader's score by four (4) inches with 85.25 inches. Ben and Matt Michlig finished in third place by also scoring on multiple fish for the contest with fish of 42.50 inches on Saturday at 2:50pm and a 37 incher at 9:15am Sunday. Other anglers to score on muskies Saturday were: Tony and Kyle Warkoczewski 35.75" at 9:15am, and Nate Osfar & Cory Huck 38.50" at 9:53am. Other teams to tally muskies on Sunday were: Dan Buss & Todd Luedtke 38.50" at 9:13am, Charles & Jeff Galloway 38.50" at 9:49am, Rick McClellan & Ryan Wahlgren 34.50" at 10:40, Kent Stadler & Doug Bloch 39.25" at 11:31am, and Tony Piantek & Bill Vierkandt 38.50" at 11:59am. The Pro-MAC™ Manitowish Chain R.A.M.M. Cup Open Championship™ top eleven places were: 1st – Lance Hamauer/Brad Burg 2nd – Randy Kauranen/Phil Markgraf 3rd – Ben & Matt Michlig 4th – Ryan & Ron Meyer 5th – Neil Barnett/Scott Chisholm 6th – Dave Schmitz/Dave Shelbrack 7th – Kent Stadler/Doug Bloch 8th – Nate Osfar/Corey Huck 9th – Dan Buss/Todd Luedtke 10th – Charles & Jeff Galloway 11th – Bill Vierkandt/Tony Piantek The next tournament for the WMT Series™ is the Pro-MAC™ qualifier MUSKIE MASTERS OPEN™ on the Eagle River Chain of Lakes the weekend of the 25th and 26th of August. The tournament still has some open spots left. . If you are interested in fishing the Pro-MAC™ Eagle River tourney, you can sign up for them the Friday before the event, August 24th at the Wild Eagle Lodge on the shores of Duck Lake or by road at 4443 Chain O'Lakes Road in Eagle River at 5:30pm until 7:30pm.
