| I am looking for the best place to go on a musky hunt in a 60 radius of Eau Claire, WI. I am going on a guided trip on Sunday and was wondering what you thought my best bet for size, numbers etc... would be? Let me know what you think. Thanks a lot to all of you who reply. I really appreciate you sharing your info with me. |

| Tony,
I talked with Darrin this morning, he and I are both guiding tomorrow and we will compare notes at the end of the day.
Decide if you want numbers or size cause it will make a difference on which body of water he takes you to. The happy medium of the two would be Holcombe or Wissota but if it continues to rain cats n dogs they might not be the best choice.
You should have a good time with him, bring warm clothes it's suppose to be cold/windy.

| There are several lakes off Hwy 40 that have decent populations of muskies. Some clear, some dark, some get pounded to a froth all season, some get little pressure...You get my point. There are also lakes in the Rice Lake area that are good choices. If you drive another 40-50 miles, there are the Hayward lakes. Then there is the Chippewa River and the flowages, plus some other fishable rivers like the Eau Claire and Jump. There are hundreds of places to fish in the area.I wish I could fish them all but I loose my motivation to explore in the mid season and somehow get into my river fishing mode.Hope I have helped. |
