Looking for a low gear ratio reel for my girlfriend. Something that won't kill her pulling cowgirls. No need to burn, just fairly easy steady retrieve. No need to spend a fortune either.
Suggestions?

Thanks

I would say the Pete Mania or the Cardiff. both previously stated above...

If she doesn't want to throw 10s, then I'd go with a Cardiff or a Revo Toro, depending on how much you are willing to spend.

For throwing 10s I would say there are 3 options: Abu Garcia 7000C3, Diawa Saltist, and the Revo Toro Winch. The 7000 and the Saltist are heavy and bulky, so I would say the best choice would be the Winch. She'll appreciate that they're low-profile, too. The only downside, aside from it being slow, is the price. The retail isn't awful, and you can always find cheap used ones, but they might cost more than you're willing to spend.

I would also suggest a cardiff or a toro, but I have to say don't get a curado 300ej for the listed application, 1st its not a low gear ratio reel and 2nd it isn't meant to pull dbl 10's, mine has some strain on it from pulling dbl 8's.

Cardiff or Curado just depends how much you want to spend.

Given the qualifiers listed (reasonably priced and using it for double 10's) you're pretty limited. Staying under $200 range you'd have the Garcia 7000's. If you're willing to go higher then the Penn 975 or Garcia Revo Toro Winch would be good choices. I don't think she'll last too long using a Cardiff or Curado on those double 10's. Good reels but the fatigue factor is undeniable with a hard pulling lure.

If she is righthanded, do her a major favor by getting her a reel with the crank on the left side like a spinning reel. She will be able to get use to this reel faster and better before she will ever learn (or train) her left arm to set the hook, work a bait, stc.

Curado 300ej - nuff said.

6.9 gears is not low gearing and will not be good for DCG10.

Toro Winch would be a great reel or a Pete Mania/Pro Bass 4.2 gear ratio if you are looking to save $$$$

Thanks for the input. I think I'm gonna go with the pate maina reel, and step up to a Revo if she's into it
