Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on houseboat rentals in Northern Minnesota. Looking at taking the nephews on a 4 day fishing trip and getting kids into Canada is a pain, so decided to stay in the States. Was thinking Vermillion, Red Lake, or LOTW. Good walleye fishing is the goal, with action for pike/smallies a bonus. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

| Rainy Lake or Crane Lake would be my recommendations. Crane Lake is in Voyagers National Park and would be a great wilderness trip!
I don't think there are houseboats on Red...nor would I recommend Red as a summer destination with kids. Not sure if there are houseboat rentals on the U.S. side of LOTW either. |

Location: Warroad, Mn | There aren't any houseboats available on the Minnesota side of the LOTWs, only on the Ontario side. Nothing on Red lake either that I'm aware of. Doug Johnson

Location: North Fork, Flambeau River | We rented a houseboat on Vermilion about 5yrs ago...I believe you will find them if you search on google. My sons & I always had success catching walleyes. We always seem to be heading to the Big V around Memorial Weekend/first week of June. A great time !! |

| The Northwest Boats,sports and travel show starts next weds at the Minneapolis convention center,,,this is one of the biggest sports shows in country aisles and aisles of resorts

There is some really good smally/Pike action on Vermilion early on in the season and the Walleye bite is pretty good too.
If you go the 2nd week in June you can also hunt Muskies in the shallows and rocks.
Vermilion Houseboats in Pike Bay,.. They have some Nice boats.
Not a very far trip for you,.............Sounds like some Great fun !

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | And the bluegill fishing is tremendous on Vermilion, too. So is the LM Bass fishing, numbers and good fish. If there's a houseboat operation there, I'd look into it. Closer than Rainy. |

Location: Watertown, MN | Jason, would say rainy all the way, walleye is excellent and smallies are abundant, in law used to have a houseboat up there and was always a great trip. Plus got some bonus pike also.

Location: Barrington, Il | Go with Rainy Lake Houseboats. I started going inthe 80's and fishing has just gotten better. Boats are top notch and they make sure you have a good time. |
