I have a 9ft3 okuma evx musky rod that I bought about 2 months ago. I love it and it works great but recently I tried to get the rod to go back into the rod and it is stuck. It still works fine and everything but its really hard to fit a 9ft 3 rod into my car. I can't twist it or push it back in. Is there anything I can try to get it to work right again? Thanks!

I never had this happen but maybe try packing the rod section in ice for a while and then taking a hair dryer to the ferrule section the rod telescopes into. Might be just enough shrinking/expanding to be able to break it loose. A relatively sharp (not too hard) blow to the ground or deck of my boat has always unstuck them for me so far.

heat up the joint w/ a hair dryer to try & expand/loosen it.

Walk in coolers work the best. Couple hours in there and you're good to go.

Also, when you extend the rod for use, don't use all your muscle to pull it out to lock it in. About 5-10lbs of force and the telescopic joint should lock in just fine for the days use. Be careful but you can also hold the rod about 6" above the telescopic joint and give it a few good hits on the ground. To help protect the cork butt you may want to do it on a few layers of cardboard on a cement surface.

Used a hair dryer and then banged it on the sidewalk a few times. Worked like a charm! Thanks for all the advice!!
