I drove past Crazy D's in Elk Mound last week and it looked closed, so I did some checking on the net and saw that his stock was liquidated last summer due to health reasons. I searched the database here and couldn't find anything. Anyone know how Ron is doing?

I always enjoyed shooting the bull with Ron when I was in the area, and I hope he's O.K

I don't know Ron at all, but I did buy a crapload of baits when they liquidated through Hines Auction Service. They really had a lot of inventory...good stuff, too.

I stopped in at Crazy D's west of Chippewa Falls one day 8 years ago. I could not believe the number of baits that guy had in his shop! It looked like Rollie and Helens West. He said he tried to collect at least one muskie lure of every one that was ever made! Then he would collect several colors of each.

I didn't hear about his shop closing until a few months ago. He would make any bucktail in any color or size that you wanted. Guys would stop in on their way to Canada after ordering up a few bucktails in advance.

He also repaired 4 of my favorite, rare, top water baits that I sent him. He knew exactly what the baits were and how to repair them. I hope Ron is doing okay. Yes, that guy loved to talk.

(I wish I would have heard about the auction in advance)

When Ron and I got together in the winter we would talk about everything from fishing to feta. He is a great guy that had a great buisness. Ron and Amy always made you feel good about being an musky fisherman and I'd always looked forward to seeing them. Good folks.

The online auction wasn't advertised at all. A friend of mine who works for RCU stumbled upon it when he was getting info on a house that was being auctioned off. I wish I would have known about his store beforehand. Seems like he ran a really nice shop.

Not to rub it in, but I ended up getting 2 Big Fork Reef Diggers and 2 Sand Cats (awesome cranks, by the way), 4 Bobbie Baits, a big spool of Sufix, a couple Cobb countdowns, a topraider, a seducer and 4 shad raps for $85. I was bidding the lots with maybe 5 other guys.

Just stopped by Ron's today he seems like he is doing well still talks you up and down about every aspect of musky fishing you could think of. I've known him for about 1 season now and learned so much about the differnt baits that the market has to offer and how to fish them. Give the shop a call or stop in if ya get the chance and tell Ron how u did last season
