Dick Gries sold his company to a guy by the name of Bruce Schwengel of Poynette WI back in the 90s. Bruce use to work at the old Dorn's Pro Shop on Monona Dr back in the 80s. After buying the company Bruce did nothing with it. When some interest came about on the web board I called him asking if I should post his number. He told me in uncertain terms not to post his phone number. A few years ago Bruce passed away. Last year Russ "Smitty" Smith bought the company from Bruce's daughter He produced the Musky Hunter collectable lure last year and even got Dick Gries to sign them. Now he is making them in 4 colors and they were available at the show this winter.

I was out with Smitty last fall (great time BTW) and he was throwing one and had about a 46 incher hot on his Striker, but failed to bite. Smitty knows how to make baits and if anyone can duplicate a bait its legendary Ha;ll of Fame guide and lure make Russ Smith.

I spoke to Russ about this at length. Although the body style is virtually the same as his "Mercer Creek" the "Stryker" is weighted differently and since he had a good collection of the original Styrkers he was able to exactly duplicate the action of the original Dick Gries models. If you liked them before you'll like them now.
